Owning dogs can be challenging. Every day is a new one as far as dogs are concerned. This is why problems can emerge seemingly overnight. It can be difficult to work out exactly what has happened in the dog’s world that turned something it has been fine with, into something that it just cannot deal with.

Dogs display their distress and overwhelmed feelings in all sorts of ways and working out what is causing the dog’s behaviour takes time, careful observation and experience.

Our own behaviour as owners has an enormous impact on how the dog perceives things in its life. Occassionally a dog behaves quite differently with different people and/or different animals within or outside the home.

Obtaining an expert opinion can make all the difference. This is because many of the dog’s reactive symptoms can be extremely antisocial, eg, lunging, barking, biting, peeing, pooping, howling, destroying, fighting, etc.

Dogs who are doing these things, are doing them for a reason and if the reason changes, simply put, the dog’s behaviour will alter. Problems occur when the wrong training is applied, when the incorrect tools are used, or when the right tools are being used incorrectly. Sadly, we live in an age of experts who may not know enough to realise they do not know enough!

Please call, message or email with your dog related issue and I will listen, observe carefully and work with you to find a solution that works for you, your dog and your family.

People bring animals into their homes to have a better quality of life. If owning a dog hasn’t worked out this way then it is reasonable to find out why and see what can be improved.

In the vast majority of situations improvement is completely possible with the correct techniques. Even in cases where others may have written the situation off as being hopeless!
